Yearbook order forms were sent home with students on Monday. Orders are due May 17th.
Education majors from Arkansas Tech University visited Oakland and taught lessons to our students about whales. Our students learned about baleen, made blubber, and had the opportunity to see a life size model of a whale. Thank you to Arkansas Tech for providing our students with this learning experience!

Russellville Schools will be dismissed one hour early on Monday, February 18, 2019. Parent-Teacher conferences will be held for grades 8th -12th from 4:00-7:00 p.m.
Congratulations to the following classes...Ellis, Orellana, Janssen, Berry, Tankersley, and Stephanie Wilson. They won the book fair contest with the highest sales in each grade level. These classes decorated Mrs.Taylor and Mrs. Tammy with hearts “For the Love of Reading”❤️❤️❤️. Thank you to Oakland families for supporting our library.
Congratulations to the Oakland Robotics Team! They won the Excellence Award today in the VEX Tournament at Russellville Junior High. This qualifies our team to compete in the VEX IQ Challenge State Championship on March 7 at Tucker Coliseum.
Important Dates
We are having a coin challenge January 29-February 1st. Money collected will be used to add books to our classroom libraries. Each teacher will spend the amount collected by his/her students to select books for the classroom at the book fair beginning on February 4th. In addition to adding books to our class libraries, Scholastic matches the dollar amount we raise at Oakland. They will donate the matching funds in books to a school in need like those who suffered loss in the flooding in Louisiana or the storm damage in Texas.
Tuesday- January 29th-bring pennies
Wednesday-January 30th-bring nickels
Thursday, January 31st-bring dimes
Friday, February 1st-bring quarters
Class group pictures will be taken Wednesday, January 30. If you would like to order, please return the order form with payment by or on picture day. You may order online. If you choose that option, return the order form with the online payment code given at check out. Thanks!!
