Safety is important at OHE. Nobody understands this more than Officer Harris, Officer Ducky, and Ms. Wilson’s class!! Last week, Officer Ducky slipped away from Officer Harris and went to hide somewhere in the school. Throughout the week, the students were required to tell Officer Harris the “Safety Phrase of the Week” to receive clues on where Officer Ducky may be hiding.
Officer Harris presented Ms. Wilson’s class a certificate of appreciation along with RSD safety director, Mr. Terry Cobb. They also were asked to keep Officer Ducky in their room so that they can keep a close eye on him. We hear that Officer Ducky has a lot of friends that will be making an appearance at OHE this year.
The safety phrase of the week, last week, was ALWAYS KEEP YOUR CLASSROOM DOORS LOCKED!!

Just a Reminder...There is no school on Mon., Sept. 2nd. Classes will resume on Tues., Sept 3rd. Have a safe and happy Labor Day weekend!

Congratulations to Eli Moores. He has been selected to be Officer Harris' Backup for September! Ms. Golden said, "Eli is always looking out for his friends and setting a good example. He is quick on his feet and eager to help his peers. Eli has gone above and beyond by being the person I can count on to put the U bolt in the door in case of a lockdown emergency. He is quick, which makes him the perfect kid for the job!! We have already practiced safety drills and he did outstanding.”

We've got spirit, yes we do! Students may wear OHE school colors (blue and yellow-gold) for our SHINE Assembly on Friday 8/30!

Please note our updated lunch schedule.

We will be honoring our grandparents in September! Please return the form sent home including payment by September 3rd if your child has a grandparent joining us for lunch. Thank you!

Officer Harris found a furry friend this morning. He named him Officer Furball!

We've had a wonderful start to the school year! Please share your first day of school pictures in the comments.

I am starting my 8th year of teaching and graduated with my music education degree from Arkansas Tech University in 2017. I am originally from Springdale Arkansas where I graduated from Har-Ber High School in 2011.

We have finished up the first two days of Kamp Kindergarten with our first group of upcoming Oakland Heights Elementary AllStar Kindergarteners! Students had so much fun getting to learn about school with some fun make and take activities! They listened to stories and learned about science/ stem boxes with our amazing science teacher, Mrs. McGahee. We had a blast on the playground too! We can’t wait to meet group 2 of our kindergarteners the next two days!
