🏅 I Believe in RSD Award: Mrs. Lauren Youngblood, Oakland Heights Elementary Teacher Mrs. Lauren Youngblood was awarded an I Believe in RSD Award in December. "At a recent professional development that I attended, we were asked what percentage of learning was knowledge, skills, and disposition of the learner. I ranked disposition much higher than either of the other two because if a student wants to learn and believe they can learn, they are going to work and work and work to achieve that knowledge or skill. As an educator here in RSD, how powerful it is for each student in our district to be surrounded by teachers who are passionate about teaching and truly believe that all students can learn at high levels and will work and work and work to ensure that is true! I am so honored to be counted as one of them!! 📚 January Board of Education Meeting Recognition The following individuals were recognized at the January 14th Board of Education Meeting: 👏 National Board Appreciation Month! 👏 Sequoyah Elementary student, Reece Austin, for being a Critical Thinker! 👏 Russellville Intermediate School student, Robert Hill, for being an Empathetic leader! 👏 Russellville Middle School student, Lloyd Llechukwu, for being a Responsible Citizen! 👏 The Russellville Lions Club invited RSD students to participate in the statewide Peace Art Contest. Russellville Junior High School student, Ahliauna Miles, won 2nd place in the state! 👏 2024 Energy Star Awards: RSD Administration Building, Center Valley Elementary, Crawford Elementary, Dwight Elementary, London Elementary, Oakland Heights Elementary, Sequoyah Elementary, RIS, Middle Grades Complex, RJHS, and RHS. 👏 Dr. Ginni McDonald for being named a 2024-2025 Superintendent to Watch by the National School Public Relations Association. 🎉 Congratulations to everyone! #OneRSD ❤️🌪️🎓

🏅 I Believe in RSD Award: Mrs. Jennifer Lachowsky, Russellville High School Teacher Mrs. Jennifer Lachowsky was awarded an I Believe in RSD Award in December! "I love what I teach and I respect the job that I've been given. It's an honor to teach AP mathematics and also to get to teach the course leading up to my classes. Teaching the prerequisite course is definitely a contributing factor to my success. I am able to make sure the students are getting exactly what I need them to know for the math classes they will potentially take with me or in college while also solidifying in them the basics they've learned but not internalized yet. I like to think my classroom is one of high expectation when it comes to what we learn but with a sense of support that encourages kids to take the course and push themselves knowing I am invested in their success as well. At the regular board meeting on January 14, 2025, Dr. Ginni McDonald, RSD Superintendent, announced that she will be entering into negotiations with the Board of Education to mutually separate from her contract as Superintendent of Russellville School District. Dr. McDonald will continue to provide strong leadership to provide a seamless transition and serve as a resource and support for the RSD Board of Education until June 30, 2025. We are deeply grateful for Dr. McDonald’s dedication and leadership during her time at RSD. Her vision and commitment have left a positive impact on our district, and we look forward to finishing this school year strong under her guidance. RSD Transportation: Bus routes will be primarily limited to main roads due to the varying conditions of side roads. RSD Transportation will be running snow routes for certain areas. "Child Nutrition wasn't a career I sought out, but once I became part of it, I never looked back. I quickly realized our work goes far beyond serving meals—it’s about ensuring students have the nutrition they need to focus and succeed. Hungry students can’t learn, and for many, school meals are their primary source of nutritious food. 🎉Classroom Spotlight: Ms. Anna Williams' 4th Grade Class! 🎉 Ms. Williams' 4th graders at Sequoyah Elementary turned math into a hands-on adventure as they tackled the formula for finding the area of a rectangle! 🖍️✨ Students worked together in groups and had fun figuring it all out as a team. ✏️Learning + teamwork = success! 💡
