\r\nFrom the Office of the Superintendent
\r\nFOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: RSD BEGINS ‘TEST TO STAY PROGRAM’
\r\nDear Parents/Guardians,
\r\n\tBeginning Wednesday, October 6, 2021, Russellville School District will be piloting the “Russellville School District: Test to Stay Program.” This pilot program applies to all staff and students ages 12 and up who are instructed to quarantine due to a positive close contact at school.
\r\nWith the written consent of parents, the students will be given a free COVID-19 (Abbott Laboratories BinaxNOW) test administered by their school nurse.
\r\nIf a student tests negative:
\r\nStudents will be required to wear their face covering for the remaining seven calendar days of quarantine during school hours and on the bus.
Parents must consent to allow the school nurse to test the student on days 1, 3, and 5 of their quarantine period, as well as allow information on the quarantine status to be provided to school staff to ensure that mask procedures are being followed appropriately.
Once arriving at school, the student will go directly to the school nurse's office on these days to complete the tests.
Students required to wear a mask must wear the mask appropriately at all times. If a student does not meet this expectation, they will be sent home immediately to finish their quarantine.
\t
\r\nIf a student is positive at any point:
\r\nStudents will be isolated, and the office will contact parents to take them home and follow traditional isolation guidelines.
\tThe Russellville School Board will review this program at the October 19th board meeting. At this meeting, they will determine if the district will continue to implement these procedures.
